My Summer Odyssey and some books I found along the way!

I got extraordinarily lazy and took the summer off, but I'm back now. Thought I'd share my summer odyssey with y'all, because it was WILD.

We took the fam to Europe and Turkey and saw some amazing things. Despite the fact that American Airlines lost my luggage and I had to wear the same clothes for four days, it was fabulous! I have to admit, the funnest part for me was signing books in Milan and Barcelona.

And I got to meet an awesome blogger Jess and her sister in Venice!

That's in St. Mark's square. (And, yes, day three with no luggage I bought a T-shirt, but those are the same jeans O_O)

Then it was on to Athens,
(Yes, that's my geeky husband in the hat :p)

and Istanbul, where, unfortunately, PD hasn't published yet. (Hurry up, Turkey!)
This is in a very cool underground cistern.

Then we played on the beach in Mikonos before heading to Pompeii and climbing Mt. Vesuvius.

Next was Rome, where there are too many amazing things to see and you aren't allowed to photograph most of them. Here's the Colosseum.

And then we were off to Florence and Pisa. My very favorite things in Italy are the sculptures. Especially Michelangelo's Pieta in St. Peter's Basilica and The David in Florence's Academia. Since they won't let you photograph The David, I'll show you something you'll all probably recognize. (We climbed it!)

And then there was France. We spent the day in a cute fishing village, Cassis, where, apparently, we didn't take a single picture. Instead, here's the view of Toulon off the back of our cruise ship.

After a few days in Barcelona, we headed home via NYC, where I got to retrace some of my characters' steps from my current WIP and have dinner with my truly fabulous agent. Here's were my WIP wraps up in a Big Twist.
It's Bethesda Terrace in Central Park. Here are my daughters enjoying the nice day there:

But now I'm home and the kids are starting school next week, so it's time to start acting like a responsible adult again. Though, my next odyssey starts on Wednesday!

In case you hadn't heard, Kendare Blake, Marta Acosta and I are will be out on the Girls' Nightmare Out tour! It all kicks off with #Torchat on Twitter on Wednesday, Aug. 15, then we take off for eight days of craziness we hope you'll all join in on! For the full tour schedule, go here! We hope to see you on the road! :p

Foreign Finds!! (And a fun foreign giveaway!)

I've made some really fun discoveries this week! A package came on Wednesday and this was in it!

The left is the Italian hardcover of Original Sin! I didn't even know that Original Sin (or as the Italians are calling it, Il Bacio del Peccato- The Kiss of Sin) had published in Italy. This is very exciting to me!!! The one on the right (Il Bacio Maledetto--The Cursed Kiss) is the new Italian Personal Demons paperback. In case you forgot, here's the original Il Bacio Maledetto cover:

And, also fun is my discovery yesterday of a trailer my German publisher (Rowohlt) did for Cynthia Hand's Uneartlhy, Alexandra Adornetto's Halo, my Original Sin (Angel Eyes in Germany) and Nora Melling's Shatten Blute (which as far as I can tell is only available in German). Here it is:

Also, in addition to the Italian cover, I found the Spanish cover for Original Sin! (Or, Pecado Original :p)

Not quite sure what Frannie's doing there... Gabe is obviously praying for divine intervention. ;p

The 2012 publication schedule for Original Sin seems to be May 3rd in Italy, July 31st in Spain, and August 1st in Germany. Click the country for the Amazon or B&N buy page =)

And, because you know how I love to give stuff away, here's a chance to win one of these:

Yep! One lucky winner will get to choose either the Spanish, German or Italian translation of Personal Demons! As always, this contest is international. To enter, all you have to do is fill out the form below. One bonus point for leaving a comment about why you want one of the translations. The contest ends next Monday, June 4th at noon, PDT.

Buona fortuna!!

Win a NOOK Loaded With the Personal Demons Trilogy!

ONE WEEK! That's how long it is until the release of the final book in the Personal Demons trilogy. I'm hoping that some of you might want to read it. To get you warmed up, here's LAST RITE in a nutshell...

The Song That is LAST RITE:

The Full LAST RITE Playlist:

(note: Pillar's Rewind is truncated, but the full upload wasn't available.)

The Jacket Copy:

In this final installment of the thrilling, edgy Personal Demons series, the battle between Heaven and Hell has become critical, and Frannie Cavanaugh is right at the center of it.

With the help of the powerful angel Gabe and demon-turned-mortal Luc, Frannie has been able to stay one step ahead of the forces of Hell. But when the demons killed Frannie's best friend and destroyed her brother, they raised the stakes. If Frannie wants to keep her family and friends safe, she knows she has no choice but to go on the run.

Their best defense is the power Frannie has been struggling to master, but her attempts to hone her skill go horribly awry. If Frannie doesn't learn fast, the consequences could be devastating—even apocalyptic.

What happens when you can't outrun Hell...or trust the ones you love?

The Narrators:
LUC

Luc is a demon’s demon. He's worked in Hell's Acquisitions department for five millennia using every tool at his disposal to tempt teenagers down the fiery path. Frannie's just one more soul. Nothing special. But, from nearly the moment they meet, she makes him feel things. Things demons aren’t supposed to be able to feel. Things he can’t even begin to understand or articulate. But things that make him question everything that he is, nonetheless. He knows Frannie doesn't deserve the fate that King Lucifer has planned for her and, for the first time he finds himself questioning his purpose. And when all of Hell comes after her, he has a choice to make.

GABE

Gabe has one goal: to keep Luc from getting what he came for. It's his only purpose, and he's willing to do whatever it takes. Because Frannie possesses a unique skill set that has King Lucifer tingling with anticipation, and, if Lucifer gets his hands on her, it would mean the end of Heaven—and therefore Earth—as we know it. But if he goes too far—far enough to lose his wings—he can’t protect Frannie, and he’s useless to her. So, the question is, how far is too far? Because, somewhere along the way he feels things change. What was just a job turns personal. He finds himself being drawn in—wanting Frannie in ways he shouldn’t. And, when it becomes clear that she wants him too, he has to decide if he’s willing to risk his wings—and maybe Frannie’s soul—for what he wants.

(Read his first POV from LAST RITE here.)

FRANNIE

Frannie finds herself in a place she never imagined, caught in an epic struggle for her soul between Heaven and Hell. And the stakes are high--the fate of Heaven, and therefore Earth hangs in the balance. With Luc and Gabe at her side, she hopes to stay one step ahead of Hell. But what happens when Hell has a face and it's someone you love?

Frannie has to decide who she can trust when no one seems to be telling the truth. And her choice might determine the fate of everything.

And now your chance to win a NOOK loaded with the Personal Demons trilogy!!

Every single person who enters will win Personal Demons swag! Three lucky winners will receive a full set of Personal Demons books, either on CD audiobook (can I just add here that the guy who voices Luc is droolworthy, and the guy who does Gabe... *swoon*), or in paperback. And the GRAND PRIZE WINNER will receive a NOOK LOADED WITH THE ENTIRE TRILOGY!!!

All you have to do enter is fill out the form below. The contest is open until LAST RITE release day, Tuesday, May 8th at noon PST! As always, this contest is international. One entry per person, please!

Good luck!!!
