TWO chances to win LAST RITE!

I'm late. Sorry about that. Had a ton of stuff happen yesterday and didn't realize until late that I'd forgotten to post my LAST RITE contest for this week. So, because I kept you waiting, I'm going to give away TWO COPIES OF LAST RITE! But first, a few things...

1) ENTRIES DO NOT CARRY OVER. If you entered last week, or the week before, or the week before that, you still have to enter here. If your name's not in the comments of THIS POST, you are not entered.

and

2) Some of you have been forgetting to answer my question in your comments. I've gone easy on you so far, but I'd love to hear your answers. Small price to pay for free books, yeah?

So, without further ado, here goes.

There will be two winners this week. Each will get their choice of signed copies of any two of these three:

Or, you can choose a signed copy of this and one of the above:

Because of the recent release of The Hunger Games and some other stuff going on, I've been thinking about books-to-movies. To enter you need to tell me what book-to-movie you think the movie people did the best job withRemember that entries do not carry over from week to week, so your name needs to appear in the comments below to enter for this giveaway. You must be 13 or older to enter. Extra entries can be accumulated as follows:

  2. So the first book to movie that I really enjoyed was Harry Potter. It may sound childish but H.P. was the series that got me started with the reading and the movies from 1 to 7b looked pretty accurate to me. I would also want to see the Hunger Games, from what I've seen from the trailer, they did a pretty good job.

What book-to-movie you think the movie people did the best job with --- Actually I think the Hunger Games, I know there were some things that were not true to the book but for the most part it felt like I was seeing what I had envisioned in my head while reading the book. (I also just watched this the other day so...)

  10. The best book-to-movie I've seen is the Hunger Games. It really helped that the author herself co-wrote the screenplay and co-produced the movie. She had control over how the movie will play out and it really is as close to the book as possible.

  12. It is a hard question because so many books to movie seem to ruin the story. I think the best page to screen adaptation was the very first Harry Potter. It kept a lot of the story line and they were able to capture many of the readers imaginations.

  13. Hi Lisa! I normally don't know the movie is based off of a book unless I've read it, but since you mentioned the Hunger Games...I was really satisfied with their book to movie adaptation, they had all the main scenes that I wanted in the book, they left out some minor things, but overall it was amazing (:

  16. This is probably going to be everyone's answer, but The Hunger Games, by far. I usually HATE adaptations with the passion of a thousand suns, but since Suzanne Collins was involved, this one turned out beautifully. The changes they made were appropriate and made sense in the context of the books. Nothing makes me madder than when scriptwriters have characters behave completely out of character (I'm looking at you, Harry Potter.)

Thanks so much for the chance to win!

  43. There are too many! The Shawshank Redemption was amazing and, even though it was a compilation of short stories, A Christmas Story is one of the best ever.

  44. For starters I'd just like to say I just recently finished reading the first two books of this series and i LOVED them. I was hooked in minutes. Luc and Frannie are amazing characters, you did such an amazing just and id die to have the signed copies <3 as a future writer/librarian it would just make my year. If these books became movies I'd be first in line.

Now to answer your question Id have to say the best book-to-movie would have to be without a doubt the Harry Potter series. They are such amazing books and loved by not only the young people but they older as well and the movies really helped get J.K. Rowling and Harry Potter where they are today. Without the movies I loved the series but the movies really brought it to life for me. They were so well done and right to the books, I watch them over and over and never get bored.

  48. Thanks for the giveaway! I think the best book to movie I've seen so far is the Hunger Games. The thing is, I always go into the movie knowing that it is a compliment to the book and that there is no way they will get it all in the movie. Books are always better than movies and expecting them to be the same is unrealistic. However, Hunger Games has come the closest to being as close to the book as possible in my opinion.
